In a press release issued last week in Düsseldorf/Germany, the European Pallet Manufacturers Association (EPAL) reported for 2015 an increase of almost 11% of pallet productionAccording to the press release, this growth exceeded all expectations. A total of 73.6 million pallets were produced worldwide last year. The 23.9 million pallets remanufactured in 2015, compared to 22.4 million in 2014, is also up slightly.
"This exceptional result was achieved thanks to a remarkable teamwork of all 15 National Committees, 3 EPAL Representations and the Area Managers. I am very proud of the positive development of EPAL", said Martin Leibrandt, CEO at EPAL.
In Europe, EPAL's positive results were influenced by increased pallet production in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Ukraine.
In Asia, EPAL saw production increases in China and South Korea.
The European Pallet Manufacturers Association (EPAL) was founded in 1991 as an association to defend the interests of EPAL/EUR pallet and box-pallet manufacturers and remanufacturers. It is now represented in more than 30 countries by 15 National Committees which are in charge of implementing EPAL objectives at national level. As a registered association, EPAL does not pursue any commercial interest and takes all decisions in the interest of the industry and its partners.
According to the EPAL website, there are 13 registered members from Romania including MIKIM S.R.L, DDCA Romania SRL, S.C. Nova Artis S.R.L., S. C. Transilvania General Import - Export S.R.L., SC EHI SRL, S. C. BREK ROM S.R.L., Kaufland Romania SCS, SC Rom Grup Development SRL, S.C. BRELA INT S.R.L. and SC PROIECT PERSONAL LEASING SRL.
