Wooden workbench: plans, construction, where to buy

I've always loved woodworking benches, woodworking benches, even before I was involved in woodworking. I simply love them, like I love a table or a cupboard, and whenever I pass by Mihai Vatavu's Danibrum I admire his desk - a wooden workbench adapted to office work. Come to think of it, there's a bit of poetry here 🙂

Moreover, the carpenter who builds his own workbench out of wood strikes me as being of particular sensitivity. And I think of myself as not being sensitive. Every time I watch the film in which The Samurai Carpenter builds his own workbench I surprise myself by discovering the pleasure of watching "over and over again". The man also has building plans that you can have, for a fee, by on this page. If you prefer the no-cost option, you'll have to do some research on the internet, because there is plenty of material to draw on.

Skipping the poem, the carpentry workbench is where the hand tool work takes place. There are several types, with different sizes, fixings and fittings, each reflecting a certain level of complexity. Regardless of features, a workbench is essential in a joinery workshop and will contribute to the accuracy and safety of hand tool work.

CălinAt one point, he proposed to build a workbench himself. Researching on the internet, he came up with the following conclusions. Also on his page I found a useful film from Bosch. In addition to the film, Călin also has a few recommendations in the article worth considering.

However, if you don't have the time to research or build it yourself, there is also a ready-made version. At some point Cătălin Sorescu was selling in his shop two models of workbench made in Romania through a collaboration with a local carpenter. One model with two clamps (shoulder and end) and another with a single clamp. From what I noticed on his page you have to give a pre-order, then he will confirm if his partner (the carpenter) can make the order or not. I ask him to correct me if this is not the case.

There is also the option of buying models built in other countries sold by Danibrum. The first model is made of beech with two jaws and a drawer. Description, features, dimensions you find in product page from the website.

The second model has smaller dimensions and a single vise. Product information find here.

At the end I'll leave you with a video of the construction of a mobile workbench that looks like a kitchen island. I don't like that it also has metal components, but it's a great solution for those with small workshops that are short on space. Thanks to the mobility it can be "stored" very easily.

And one more thing. I'm waiting in the comments for your jokes ... work. 🙂
